Davies Saison 2011.12 We are pleased to invite you to the 2011-2012 concert season of the Bruckner Orchester Linz!

As could be expected, the on-going devotion to the great works of Anton Bruckner together with an emphasis on Gustav Mahler’s symphonic masterpieces are central themes to the Bruckner Orchester’s program.

The continuation of our cycle of the Beethoven symphonies is in response to an often expressed wish of both orchestra members and the Upper Austrian audiences as well.

The programs for young people in different age groups developed through the Bruckner Orchester education department- “MOVE.ON” are especially important to the orchestra’s central mission.
Over the past several seasons these activities have grown exponentially, as reflected in a dramatic increase from two concerts to our upcoming eleven performances.

This coming season an interesting and, we hope, stimulating new series has been added. On four evenings in advance of major subscription concerts, Music Director Dennis Russell Davies will lead and moderate an hour program with selected works from the coming concert, with musical excerpts and anecdotes about the composers and their work.
We hope in this way to attract our loyal subscribers as well as a potential new audience with this opportunity to gain new insights and appreciation for our symphonic traditions.
